Yesterday we showed you the half pound of PE-4 explosives found at a home at the corner of Berkeley and Plues Streets in Belize City. Today, police charged the three people found in the house. They are 20year-old Leslie Gillett, a construction worker from Burrell Boom; 23-year-old Nikki Pinkard, and his girlfriend, 31 year old Genevieve Milligan, both residents of #60 Plues Street.
In court appearances today they were jointly charged for keeping explosives, keeping an unlicensed firearm and Ammunition and drug possession.
The police prosecutor objected to bail but their attorney, Kareem Musa submitted that his clients are not flight risks. Magistrate Ordonez asked all three to give a good reason for him to grant them bail. Milligan told the court that she is a mother of 2 who had to miss her son’s graduation yesterday because she was in police custody. Gillett said he just got a job and did not want to lose it while Pinkard, who is Milligan’s boyfriend, said he needs to help his family and that he is a hard working man.
Still, Magistrate Ordonez said that he could not forget the devastation of the explosive on Mayflower Street so he granted bail to only Milligan. All three are to return to court on July 3.
