They say if you do not succeed at first then try, try and try again and that is just what burglars did when they eventually broke into the offices of CSB, an accounting agency on Central American Boulevard. After three unsuccessful attempts and on two separate occasions in June thieves stole over seven thousand dollars worth of electronic equipment and one thousand two hundred and forty eight dollars in cash. It has been a month since the break in and police have no leads in this case and none of the stolen items have been recovered.

Jacqueline Godwin,
How did this individual gain access to the building?

Shawn Mahler, Audit Manager – CSBL Firm
“Well there were five attempts to break into the building and the person got in twice and basically they targeted the back area of the building which is our building that does offshore services and they tried to break through the window and then eventually hit the wall and they came inside of the building and broke through a number of walks to gain access to the front office, they went through the ceiling as well. They get through to offices at the two locations. They ended up taking two computers, one per occasion, and some equipment.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
It sounds as if this person had quite a lot of time on his or her hand.

Shawn Mahler,
“Well according to neighbor’s account it is mainly in the wee hours of the morning between after 12 o’clock to four am in the morning. People have heard them tugging away at the wall so they have been.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
This is a lot of expensive electronic equipment that was stolen. What is being done to try to recover these items?

Shawn Mahler,
“Well we’ve just worked with the police. Whatever tips we’ve gotten from neighbours, we’ve basically communicated to them and we’re just in constant contact with them.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Does the company believe it was an inside job, that this individual may be familiar with this company’s building?

Shawn Mahler,
“No at this time we don’t think it’s an inside job but definitely it is somebody familiar with the building and maybe around the neighbourhood.”

The first break in happened on the weekend of June tenth and the second between June eighteenth and nineteenth. The stolen items are a grey Dell lap top computer in a bag with accessories, a stone globe clock, a black Bose wave system, three Motorola razor cell phones without SIM cards and a Vivitar digital camera.
