Belize City police are trying to determine if a murder committed in April of 2006 may be linked to another shooting two years later. On Thursday night, nineteen year old Kenroy Humes was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He had been shot several times in the right hand and left side of the buttocks. Humes, who denied 7NEWS an interview, remains in the KHMH recovering from his injuries that are not life threatening.
But who would want to kill Kenroy Humes? Well sources tell 7NEWS that there are many reasons why someone wants the victim dead. It is not the first time Humes has been in the news. In fact in April of 2006 he was charged with the murder of Gilroy Phillips but reports are that he was never convicted because witnesses, who feared for their own lives, did not testify.
Today authorities are investigating to see if both cases are related. But where Kenroy Humes was shot has also led police to investigate the case from another angle and that is if the bullets were intended for another person or place of residence because where it occurred is also well known to law enforcement. Humes has told police that around seven twenty two last night he was standing in front of Darren Banks’ residence on Oleander Street when a lone gunman described as dark complexion, slim built and about five feet ten inches tall approached from the direction of Zacaranda Street and fired his weapon.
While the shooter has not yet been caught the police say they do have the name of a suspect who is being sought for questioning.
