18 year old Cameron Blease is alleged to be one of the men who was shooting wildly over the very violent weekend in the city. Police say that on Sunday night he opened fired on a woman on Sibun Street and then shot at the police. Today, the teenage resident of #1 Vernon Street was taken to court when he was arraigned on 7 charges resulting from the shooting.

Here’s what happened. At about 10:00, on Sunday night, Lucrecia Myvette, was standing in front of her yard when Blease walked up and held the gun in her face. Fearing for her life, she threw herself into a nearby drain, and that’s when the gunman opened fire, shooting at her as many as 5 times. Myvette was hit once in the left upper arm and was rushed to the KHMH where she is receiving treatment. A police mobile that was patrolling the Vernon Street area responded to the sound of gunshots being fired, and saw Blease fleeing. The police say Blease then fired two shots at them. He escaped, but police arrested him the following day.

Police say that they are also investigating the possibility that one of Blease’s bullets may have also grazed a BDF soldier who was posted nearby. For all that, Blease faces charges of attempted murder aggravated assault and use of deadly means of harm upon Myvette. He was additionally charged with 4 counts of aggravated assault upon pc Maron Chacon, BDF private, Ian Young, PC Elvis Hernandez and BDF Private Isaias Camera.

Because the offenses are indictable, no plea was taken and Blease was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until August 29.
