And if you think Belize City police only had the Saturday shootings and grenade incident to respond to over the weekend, think again. They were back on the streets around twelve forty on Sunday morning. This time the shooting victims are twenty two year old Leo Palacio and thirty year old Patrick Kerr. Palacio and Kerr told police that sometime between twelve thirty and twelve forty five that morning they were at Archie’s Shopping Centre on Central American Boulevard when a white Cherokee Jeep pulled up outside of the building.
Two women got out of the vehicle and went into the store. That is when Kerr and Palacio approached the vehicle. Kerr went by the passenger side and Palacio went by the driver’s side. Shortly after gunshots were fired and a man with a chrome hand gun was seen getting back into the vehicle. The jeep then drove off leaving behind their two victims. Leo Palacio was shot two times to the lower back and right arm. Patrick Kerr was shot three times in his upper right leg, knee and lower back. Both remain hospitalized at the KHMH. Police so far have no motive and suspects.
And before the carnival, at around noon, a 16 year old minor was walking on Boots Crescent with her boyfriend when she heard three ‘loud sounds’ and later realized she was shot. She was hit in the left buttock and the bullet exited the left pelvic area.
And we are not sure how nineteen year old Belize City resident Simeon Alvarez Jr. got shot because there are two conflicting reports of what transpired. Alvarez has told police that around six thirty on Saturday evening while he was walking across Bel-China Bridge from North Front Street towards JEC Pawn Shop, he heard a single gunshot and then felt a burn to his left calf. Today information to 7NEWS is that no one shot nineteen year old Simeon Alvarez Jr. but the report is that the young man may have accidentally shot himself.
