And while Ross Kemp interviewed Jason Brown and Dianne Finnegan – he never got the opportunity to do that with Superintendent Edward Broaster – the head of the Conscious Youth Development Program and a police officer who works with gangs daily. That is because Broaster turned down Kemp’s requests for interviews. Broaster says don’t believe everything you see on television, especially if it comes from Ross Kemp.
Keith Swift Reporting,
Ross Kemp told the world he got this grenade off the streets of Belize City. Well Superintendent Edward Broaster knows the street as well as anyone in law enforcement and he asserts that the grenade Ross Kemp showed the world – didn’t come from any street in Belize City.
Supt. Edward Broaster, CYDP Director
“I am of the belief that the grenade that Ross Kemp held in his hand is an official grenade from an official source because if it were from one of

these young persons in the streets they would not have hidden the identity of the grenade. Young persons would not care one iota as to where the grenade came from or for anyone to know the identity of the grenade and he clearly was advised to cover the identity.”
Keith Swift,
When you say an official source who are you referring to?
Supt. Edward Broaster,
“Well as I mentioned clearly the grenade is similar in shape size and color to the one that we found on Princess Margaret Drive so I would hope the British investigators would introduce Ross Kemp and find out where he got his hand on that type of grenade.
The documentary does not paint an accurate picture of the gang situation in Belize because we’re not living in Belize with grenades being hurled here there an everywhere. We had one experience in Belize in May and Ross Kemp knew about that experience and he fabricated stories to give the suggestion that it is a daily occurrence in Belize and talk about grenade being the favourite ammunition of these young persons in Belize which is totally ludicrous and fabricated.”
And fabricated or not, Kemp report dropped a bomb on Belize’s tourism

industry and veteran tour guide Tom Greenwood says its effect will be felt.
Tom Greenwood, Tour Guide
“In today’s world for instance people book for example tours through the web and on the web they find everything good and bad and this is the kind of thing that they will pick up on. So even if we lose a few tourists, that is a few tourists less for Belize and that means a guide or a tour operator or a hotel has that less numbers. It is bad, very bad. It has to be bad news for us. Mr. Kemp has stuck a large knife in our backs and it is something we can never forgive him for. Ross Kemp is the kind of man that would destroy that and not think twice. All he thinks about is what he wants to do and what he wants to say. He has let down, I don’t want to consider Ross Kemp even as a part of the media, this man is a sensationalist who doesn’t care who gets a knife stuck in the buck.”
