Well known, well connected figure Gilbert Franklin just got bail today after more than a week on remand. As we reported on September 9th, Franklin was remanded on the charge of keeping a prohibited firearm, except his weapon was licensed but it carried an extended clip, and according to police, that is prohibited. Today in the Supreme Court, the 34 year old was granted $5,000 bail by Justice Adolph Lucas.

His attorney Michael Peyrefitte, noted that his client was charged with possession of a prohibited material. Representative for the DPP’s office, Senior Crown Council Cecil Ramirez told Justice Lucas that the charge was wrongly worded. According to Ramirez, the charge should have stated exactly how many rounds was in the magazine. With that, Justice Lucas granted Franklin bail.
