A bus heading west last night was shot at as it passed through Teakettle Village. It’s a wonder no one was hurt, because an unknown and unseen shooter took aim at the bus right after it had picked up a passenger near the Teakettle Community Center. The bullet entered through one window and exited through the other, zinging right past a commuter. Both windows were shattered. Today conductor Teresita Figueroa told us about it.
Teresita Figueroa, Conductor
“Reaching in Teakettle by the bus stop by the center we stopped. A young man came down and when the driver drive off we heard a gunshot coming up by the center side and we just left and ahead we picked up a BDF there and we gone and we don’t know who is the person who shot, we didn’t see anyone at the place.”
Jules Vasquez,
Now I saw that enter, if someone had been sitting there they could have been killed.
Teresita Figueroa,
“Yes somebody could have been killed or hurt or something like that. Only a passenger was sitting behind and everyone got excited in the bus when they heard the gunshot.”
Jules Vasquez,
Are you afraid to go back on the road tonight?
Teresita Figueroa,
“No I am not afraid. I will still go on the road, I am not afraid because everyday that we leave from our run I have faith in God and I ask God to help us and protect us from anything on the road.”
Figueroa called police but when they responded, the shooter had already taken off.
