He was supposedly caught in the act by police but this afternoon a jury unanimously acquitted 21 year old Jose Cesar Diaz of unlawful carnal knowledge. Diaz was accused of having sexual relations with a 13 year old girl on May 14th of 2007 at a boat yard on the Northern Highway. The girl testified that she knew Diaz for three years and on the night in question she sneaked out of her house and met Diaz who took her to the boat yard where they had sexual relations.
But Diaz who was undefended, denied it. He told the court he is a happily married man and blamed it on his friend. He said he was home at the time of the incident and his friend came to borrow the keys to take the girl to the boat yard. He said the next morning when he went to the boat yard the teenage girl was there. Police and the girl’s mother later showed up and Diaz was arrested.
Diaz called no witnesses but gave a 3 minute statement from the dock. The jury deliberated for less than three hour.
