And while Hope Creek was on edge, the mood was quite different in Sittee River Village. They too were hit hard by Tropical Storm Arthur but they are taking this latest threat in stride. We spoke to two residents Myrna Lamb and Bernadette Ciau.

Myrna Lamb, Sittee River Resident
“Our biggest concern right now is the rising of the river and we know that we have had a lot of rain but there is

still more rain to come so we’re pretty much worried about this water that is coming up so quickly.”

Keith Swift,
But seeing the level it is at, you’re cool with that?

Myrna Lamb,
“Not really because night is coming and we know that we have more rain to get and the water will keep rising.”

Keith Swift,
What is your plan?

Myrna Lamb,
“Well right now we are looking at the water and most naturally we’ll try to move to higher grounds, even out on the highway or something like that.”

Bernadette Ciau, Sittee River Resident
“This is normal right now for we. We are used to this and moreover the flash flood didn’t come from here, it came from more up in the village where we never see flood yet. The highest point of the village is where we got the flash flood. This is normal right now, we are used to this.”

Keith Swift,
You have anything packed should in case something happens?

Bernadette Ciau,
“No we are just having fun right now, when it comes then we will deal with it.”

Residents in Sittee River stressed to us that even if they have to evacuate, there will be nowhere for them to go because the hurricane shelter is the school and that is the first place that usually floods.
