And police suspect that a shooting around mid-day on Central American Boulevard today could have been a retaliation. Police got the call at 11:45 of gunshots being fired on the Boulevard near its intersection with Pine Street – an area that is crowded at any time of the day and particularly so when it’s close to lunch time. Luckily, no was injured and police recovered 6 expended shells. Daniel Olivia was in the area and he told us off camera what he saw, heard, and did.
Daniel Olivia, Witness
“I see a man just ride and he dropped his bike and then the one over here run over this building over here, jumped the fence, and it is him they must have been shooting after. Then afterwards you saw the next crowd running over so and run down this lane here and then you heard like 8 gunshots and you just see a whole crowd of people just start run. Then they ran by the tortilla factory and hide too. Then when we peeped by there, we saw the guy like he was limping and thing but it must be because he stomped open the thing there by the gate and that is what we saw.”
Keith Swift,
And that’s the guy with the dreads?
Daniel Olivia,
“Yes. They must have wanted him check, that’s why. It is he we saw running for like his life and then I think they wanted to shot up him.”
Keith Swift,
What did you do when you heard these shots?
Daniel Olivia,
“What I did, I came to peep out but when I heard more shots I have to duck my clients check and then those ones run and I told them to duck because if they didn’t duck they will get shot because the bullets were flying.”
The man the witness refers to has been identified to us as Richard Russell. Police however would not confirm it. The investigator told us they are still looking for the intended victims as well as the alleged shooter.
