He was shot at over the weekend and Austin Rowland says 21 year old Tyrone “Beans” Gentle pulled the trigger. Though Rowland wasn’t hit, today Gentle was charged for attempted murder and damage to property. Rowland identified Gentle as the gunman in an ID parade on Sunday. On Saturday afternoon around 3:50 pm police responded to reports of gunshots on Pelican Street and met Rowland who says he was in his green Saturn car waiting for a friend when he saw a man wearing a dread hat with a dark sunshades jump over a fence.
He says the man approached him with a silver handgun and from 50 yards away he opened fire. Rowland says he sped off and later found that the bullets damaged his right fender and door.
Gentle was arrested on Monday and arraigned today. He was remanded to prison until December 12th. If the name Austin Rowland sounds familiar, that is because he is an associate of Darren Banks who was charged for the attempted murder of Richard Russell on August 1st.
