The embattled and controversial Executive Director of Pageants Belize Limited Margaret Johnson has one more problem on her hands tonight. On Monday a default judgement was passed against her in the Magistrate’s Court. The complainant was the family of Azizi Hoy. You might remember that she was the miss Mini Belize Universe who represented Belize at the Miss Mini-Universe Pageant in the Dominican Republic in November of last year.
Hoy’s family took Johnson to court for expenses which Johnson promised to pay but didn’t. That included money for wardrobe, hotel, and registration fees for the pageant which they had to pay out of their own pockets. The Hoy family says what made it worse is that Johnson collected money on behalf of Azizi and never turned it over to the family. In fact Johnson told the family the only money she collected was $25.
A default judgement against Margaret Johnson was issued because she didn’t show up at court. Johnson has until the 20th of December to pay or she faces jail time. We were unable to reach Margaret Johnson for comment.
