A woman was shot this evening in Belize City. Joeth Pratt, also known as China, was sitting in a yard on Faber's Road when a gunman approached her and opened fire. It occurred around 4:30 pm and Pratt was hit at least once. She was sitting in the yard of Marjorie Staine who told us off camera what transpired after she heard the two shots.

"I just heard two things went off and I thought that it was pop shot but I husband said that was a gun and when the second shot fired, the young lady ran in here and she said to please help her and I saw a lot of blood and thing. So I told her to hurry sit down and I will take her across there. She said no because the person who wanted to shoot her was out here. So I told her to sit down right there because she was bleeding plenty and I ran and grabbed a thing and set it there and I tried to holler for the nurses and asked them to please call the ambulance."

Marjorie Staine,
"I heard two. It was only two shots."

Where was she hit?
Marjorie Staine,
"Here but I don't know if she got any in here because only the one from here but with the bleeding I thought she got more than one."

And you know this girl or did she just run into your yard?
Marjorie Staine,
"Yes she came and asked me to charge a phone for her. She just brought in the phone and I plugged it in and she sat down right on that chair there and then I heard the thing and she ran in."
Joeth Pratt was first taken to the Port Loyola Clinic and then to the KHMH. Her condition is unknown. As Marjorie Staine noted in the interview, Pratt screamed out that someone was trying to killer her. The alleged gunman escaped by jumping Staine's fence and escaping into the Nurse Findley Crescent Area.
In 2001 Pratt had emerged as a noted crime figure, a woman accused of pulling off multiple armed robberies. She later served time in prison.
MeanwhileHe did not wish to talk to the media about it, but someone tried to kill twenty four year old Kenneth Dobson last night. Kenneth Dobson is being treated at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for stab wounds to the left side of his head and in his back. He has told police that he was riding his bike in the area of Archie's Restaurant on Central American Boulevard when a man approached him armed with a knife.
7NEWS _understands that Belize City Police have detained a thirty three year old man for questioning. As for a motive? That is still being investigated.
