In related news, 21-year-old Kareem Smith and 20-year-old Kenroy Humes were jointly arraigned today for the attempted murder of high school student, 17-year-old Justin Roaches.
On Friday night, January 5, on Louis Street, Roaches was shot once in the right side of the abdomen. Both Smith and Humes were not asked for a plea and due to the nature of the offense, they were denied bail. None of the men were represented in court this evening.
Both Kenroy Humes and Kareem Smith are no stranger to the police. Records show that Humes in early 2007 beat a murder charge after he was free from the 2006 murder of Gilbert Phillip. Humes was the allege gunman at the age of 18 who was charge with his murder, but in 2007, he walked free. Humes was also a recent shooting victim. Smith recently was granted bail for conspiracy to commit murder in the recent grenade attack on Mayflower Street on May 18, 2008, where he and his brother, a minor age 16, were charged.
