The nude body of a woman was found in a swamp off mile 3 on the Western Highway yesterday afternoon. She has been identified as 56 year old Linda Reneau Williams – who had a history of mental problems. Police observed no signs of violence of the body and because of the state of decomposition – no cause of death has been determined. And while that may be case closed for police – the family is saying not so fast. Keith Swift found out more.
Keith Swift Reporting,
Linda Williams lived inside this small house on Police Street Extension with her common law husband. But the last time her neighbour and close friend Pedrina Johnson saw her alive – Linda was far from home.
Pedrina Johnson, Friend of Deceased
“I met her on the road and I asked her where she was doing up the road. She told me she was going to take a walk and I continued on and when I reached to my work spot, I met her again. I met her going through a road by where I work and I asked her where was she going and she continued walking through the road but I didn’t did see her come back through the road.”
Keith Swift,
And that is the last time you saw her?
Pedrina Johnson,
“Yes. When I came from work the evening, her gentleman Michael came to my house and I told Michael I met Miss Linda on the road. I told her and I told him to go for Miss Linda. He said no because they already took Miss Linda up the road to Rockview. So I didn’t go and tell the daughter because I didn’t know they didn’t know.”
But they didn’t know and on Saturday the family filed a missing persons report.
Rose Reneau, Niece of Deceased
“We didn’t know that she really went missing because she always strays when she gets sick because she has a nerve problem. But Saturday we realized that she was really missing because she

didn’t come none at all and nobody could have seen her anywhere. So we came to the police station and reported it. They sent for a picture and they got a picture. They found her yesterday. At about three o’clock they called my niece and told her they found my auntie and thing.”
There were no signs of violence on Linda’s body, nothing to indicate foul play but her nieces Desiree and Rose Reneau are suspicious.
Desiree Reneau, Niece of Deceased
“She was found naked you know. She was found naked and they haven’t given us any reason as to why she was naked and she is not somebody that nakeds herself on the street. It doesn’t matter how mad she gets, she doesn’t naked herself on the street. They should check into why she was naked and they are telling me my aunt’s body was badly decomposed when I saw the body and if it was that badly decomposed, I would have seen skin stripping; I have seen decomposed bodies before and that wasn’t a badly decomposed body.”
Keith Swift,
You think foul play was involved?
Desiree Reneau,
“I think something went wrong somewhere. She does not live in Faber’s Road. She lives in the Lake Independence area. I think she strayed and she was taken advantage of out there and they are hiding something.”
Keith Swift,
The death certificate says cause of death unknown. What do you think about that?
Rose Reneau,
“I don’t know whe fi think Mister because if you post mortem a person and you don’t know what he died from, it doesn’t make sense for you to be a doctor; simple but true.”
And what makes it all worse is that the family claims they are being forced to quickly bury their aunt.
Rose Reneau,
“If my aunt’s body was badly decomposed, why did they pick her up and take her to the morgue?”
Desiree Reneau,
“They left her an overnight and then post mortem her today and then at this time in less than an hour they told us that we have to bury her. I guess the expression on our face with the death certificate that they give us saying that the cause of death is unknown, probably they realize they are dealing with some shady shit and we are not happy with it and that is why they kicked her body out like that because they had already agreed to keep her in there until Friday morning.”
Keith Swift,
So you have to within the next hour or so….
Desiree Reneau,
“Within the next half an hour, she has to go down because they threw her body in the burial ground. They refused to take her back to the morgue.”
The Police’s Chief Pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran says the cause of death is undetermined because of the state of decomposition. He says he observed no signs of violence on the body. He estimates that Linda Williams died on Sunday. She was the mother of 3 children. As we mentioned, she lived with a common-law husband identified to us as one Michael. His whereabouts are unknown.
