7NEWS has confirmed that the body of an adult female was found on top of the Glover’s Reef Atoll this afternoon. It was found about 7 miles northeast of Middle Caye. A group of fishermen made the discovery around 1:30. They immediately reported it to personnel at Middle Caye in the Glover’s Reef Atoll who in turn contacted police.
This evening a team of officers from the Dangriga Police Station left Middle Caye enroute to the area where the body of an adult female was found. Initial reports were that it was two bodies but the second body was later identified as the skeleton of a turtle. The body was in a moderate state of decomposition. A ranger at middle estimates it may have been there for three days. They also note that the body was on top of the reef and it appears it may have been placed there.
The team of officers left the scene around 6 pm and will return for the body tomorrow. We’ll have more details then.
