They may have thought that they made a clean getaway but tonight four young men are cooling their heels in police lock down after they were caught shortly after holding up and robbing a business owner of eight thousand dollars in cash and phone cards. And guess what? The robbery was reportedly caught all on tape from the police’s own surveillance camera atop the Pound Yard Bridge.
The daring hold-up and robbery occurred around seven fifty on Tuesday night. Sixty six year old Jip Lun Chee told authorities that while and he and his assistant was inside Brads Shop located that the corner of Cemetery Road and West Collet Canal, two dark complexioned men entered the building. One of the men was armed with a thirty eight revolver. According to the store’s employee who did not wish to appear on camera they were all caught off guard and there was no time to react and they only did what the robbers demanded.
Employee of Brads,
“Two young boys walked into the shop and when they walked in the shop, a short one and a tall one. The tall one stood outside and pointed the gun at me and told me to tell everybody in the shop to don’t move. The next minute, the small one went into the shop and just started to ransack the shop and get the lady’s money and different of things. He asked me if anything more else because the tall one had a gun on him. Then I told my boss if he could please open the draw. Then she opened the draw, they picked up the money and they left.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
At the time were there any customers inside the store?
Employee of Brads,
“Yes one person was inside the store.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
Anyone got injured?
Employee of Brads,
“No, no one.”
The pair of robbers then took off with two thousand dollars worth of coins and a pack of Smart phone cards. The police however were quick to respond in a high speed chase. The robbers took off on separate bicycles and rode in the direction of the Queen’s Square Market police caught them a few blocks away. Today police say they have nabbed four persons they believe were involved and recovered some phone cards and over six thousand dollars in cash.
