On the eve of the municipal elections residents in the Port Loyola area especially along Caesar Ridge Road were alerted to the sounds of multiple gunshots sometime after eight on Tuesday night. Two armed men stepped out of a Chevy Tracker and started firing at two young men identified as twenty nine year old Windell Zelaya and forty seven year old Dalton Williams. With so much bullets fired it is amazing that Dalton Williams managed to escape we understand with no injuries but his friend affectionately referred to as coolie was not so lucky. Windell Zelaya had been hit more then twelve times and was killed on the spot. Today we caught up with the grieving family who told us that while they cannot understand why anyone would want to kill their loved one but reports to 7News are that the victim was the intended target.

What does the family knows happen that night? We understand he was in the company of a friend when a car stopped, several guys got out of the vehicle and just started firing.
Janice Coleman, Mother of Murdered Son
“They started to fire fire out there. I didn’t hear, I was in my house, but my uncle saw them, the vehicle stopped right here, and then they went underneath so many times and they shot him until he died.”
When 7News arrived at the location on Ceasar Ridge Road just after nine on Tuesday night the lifeless body of Windell Cornie Zelaya was still on the ground, lying face up with several bullet wounds all over the body.
Windell Carcamo, Uncle of Murder Victim
“Well according to the policeman they say they shoot him fourteen times. They shot him three times in the head, one on the hand, one on the ass, two on the hands, two on the legs, and all the rest in the side. According to policeman, they said he died from internal bleeding from inside. They said they found seven slugs in him and they didn’t find the next seven. So in all fourteen bullets killed him.”
Janice Coleman,
“I have six kids and they left me with five now. Five big ones I am left with, two sons and three daughters. That is all I have now. They took away my good son from me. That is my oldest pickney.”
Windell Carcamo,
“We don’t want anything out of it. We will leave everything to the good Lord. What goes around comes around but like what I said, everybody has their day. I didn’t believe they would target my nephew neither you know until when I looked across the street.”

Because it is like right by your house.
Windell Carcamo,
“Right across from my house.”

So you heard all the gunshots?
Windell Carcamo,
“All the gunshots, all; everything. Like what I said, I don’t know if they really was targeting my nephew.”
Janice Coleman,
“I don’t believe so at all because he doesn’t trouble nobody at all from this Yabra, he doesn’t bother nobody and he doesn’t interfere with nobody and doesn’t put himself with no kind of company, he keeps by himself.”

Janice if you don’t believe your son was the target, why do you believe he was killed?
Janice Coleman,
“I don’t know why people would want to kill him. I don’t know why, he didn’t do them anything. It looks like they had just a grievance against him and they must not like him for this place where he lives but he born and grow here and I don’t have anything with people around this neighbourhood. Suddenly the neighbourhood get like that, hot, and a lot of young boys have gun and I don’t know what they are doing with it about the place.”
Sources tell 7News that the police who have detained four persons and have since impounded a vehicle that matches then description of the one the gunmen were seeing exiting. Reports are that the owner of the vehicle has not yet shown up to identify it as his property that is because 7News understands he may be linked to another shooting that occurred sometime last week which left the victim identified to us only as one Moody injured. Furthermore, sources tell 7News that the police believe the murder of Windell Zelaya may be in retaliation for the Moody case. Police would not comment on whether or not Windell Zelaya was involved in that shooting.
