In March of 2008, the then 19 year old Carl Reneau allegedly shot twenty two year old Delroy Matura seven times. Matura lived to tell his tale of horror and Reneau was charged with the attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. Reneau was eventually granted bail and released from Hattieville Prison pending trial in the Supreme Court.
But today, almost one year later Carl Reneau is back before the Magistrate’s Court for another shooting, but this time, he’s accused of the murder of thirty two year old Brian Williams better known as ‘Benji.” Police believe that Carl Reneau is the gunman who sprayed Williams with eight bullets as he painted a house at the corner of Faber’s Road and Nurse Findley Crescent on the afternoon of Monday the ninth.
According to court reports the shooter reportedly told a four year old boy who lives at the home and was inside the yard at the time, quote “go inside because I come feh kill Benji." The gunman escaped by running out of the yard and jumping the fence of the residence where he killed his victim.
Today Carl Reneau who used his t- shirt to conceal his face from the media was unrepresented when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Dorothy Flowers. He was read the single charge of murder but Reneau who has a pending fine for the possession of controlled drugs begged Senior Magistrate Flowers to please have the court prepare his warrant for that fine so he can begin serving his time for what he owes for the offence.
Following his specific request to the court Carl Reneau was then remanded to Hattieville Prison for the murder of Brian Williams…and that is where he will remain until his next court appearance on April fourteenth.
