And when the meeting does finally conclude sometime this evening, the leaders look ahead to April 17th when they will re-unite in Trinidad and Tobago for the fifth Summit of the Americas. It is the most important meeting in this hemisphere and a huge honour for CARICOM to host it. Barrack Obama will be there and Chairman of the event, PM Manning said Caribbean views will be well represented.

“In our opening ceremony for example where we will have five speakers, one of the speakers will be the Chairman in office of CARICOM who will be the very distinguished Prime Minister Dean Barrow of Belize and we looking forward to his articulation of the issues that I am sure he will consider appropriate. At the same time, the plenary sessions, we ensure that each plenary session, there is somebody from CARICOM who is going to be making a contribution so the views of CARICOM will be very well expressed.”

But before they get to Trinidad, a group of CARICOM officials will be in San Ignacio tomorrow afternoon to hold a town meeting on integration opportunities.
