An American man says a land dealer in Belize swindled him out of $137,000. 48 year old Stan Pore said that he had contracted to purchase four parcels of 100 acres in Carmelita and paid the full purchase price in February of last year. But since then, the dealer told him the transfer has been delayed because of the audit at the Ministry of Natural Resources.
But Pore did his own investigation and got the distinct impression that the land he had paid for was not tied up in any audit, instead it was in someone else’s name. So he got a local attorney and he went to the police claiming that the dealer had obtained property by deception.
And while police are looking for this land dealer to make an arrest....that land dealer’s attorney is Mike Peyrefitte and he called our office this evening and told us he is prepared to talk to police but he doesn’t know what police want to speak to him about. He said he has heard things but nothing from the police and when he called today the investigator was unavailable.
