On Sunday night, another gunman struck again in the Lake Independence area and again, it looked like a planned execution. Nineteen year old Glenford Audinett was the victim at about 1:30 on Sunday morning. Someone went to his home on Ebony Street, knocked on his door and called for a person named “Money.” Shortly after, three gunshots were heard, and Audinette was found lying dead in the yard; he had been shot to the back of the head and right side of the neck. At this time police have no suspects but strongly believe the murder may be drug related.
However the victim’s family and close friends are not so sure and are at a loss as to who would want to kill the young father of a five month old. Today they told 7News that as far as they know Glenford Audinette is not known to them as “Money.” According to his girlfriend’s mother, Jocelyn Lamb, the last time she saw him was on Saturday and he appeared to be troubled.
Jocelyn Lamb, Mother in Law of Murder Victim
“All we want is justice served because I don’t think his mother is in to revenge and nothing because they are real church people and we, I don’t see no reason to go after nobody. We leave it in the hands of the law for them to do their work and we wish they catch who did it because they’ve taken away a really good father.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
And at no time Glenford spoke to you somebody was threatening him or he was scared of anybody?
Jocelyn Lamb,
“Me and he always sit down and talk but when I looked at him, you know when you have something inside and it is like he really didn’t want to tell me. So it hurts me, it really hurts because I don’t know of him doing anybody anything. He goes to his work, from work to home. Glenford doesn’t do nobody nothing. I don’t know if he did it behind me back or whatever but in my sight, as we know Glenford, Glenford is not a troublesome person.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
Jocelyn when was the last time you saw Glenford?
Jocelyn Lamb,
“I saw Glenford Saturday evening, that is the last time I saw him when he came home to my house I wasn’t here and so went to meet me at my sister with his daughter and her baby. So when he left from there, you could have seen that he was uncomfortable. We were asking him what it was but he didn’t tell us anything and six o’clock he left to go to work and that is the last time I saw Glenford.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
And then the family heard what happened to him. Did this come as a shock to you and your daughter?
Jocelyn Lamb,
“It came as a real shock to me because I don’t know Glenford as no bad person. This really really hurts me because my grandbaby didn’t even get to know his daddy. It hurts.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
How old is your grandson?
Jocelyn Lamb,
“My grandson just turned five months on the day his father died.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
You said he was at a residence on Ebony Street, what was he doing there?
Jocelyn Lamb,
“I don’t know. I can’t say because I don’t know. I don’t know. I just feel he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That is my belief because I don’t know Glenford as no hang out guy or nothing. When he comes from work it is straight to my house to see his baby and he leaves from here and goes straight to his work. So I don’t know Glenford as no gang banging or hanging out because he is into his baby, his common-law wife.
He was a nice outgoing guy, he was in his church, Salvation Army, and when he had the baby it is like he backed away from the church and was into his child now. I don’t know him as no bad guy. He doesn’t hang out. Nobody can tell me Glenford did something to anyone.”
Jacqueline Godwin,
But you said the last time you saw him he looked troubled.
Jocelyn Lamb,
“When I saw him it was like he was uncomfortable but maybe….I don’t what to say. All I want to tell them is that they took away a good father, a really good father from his child.”
While the body of Glenford Audinette was found in a yard on Ebony Street, sources tell 7_News_ that family and friends are troubled by reports they received that just before Glenford Audinette was shot he was seen running away by someone who was chasing him. Police could not confirm this report only telling 7News that while they suspect the murder is drug related they have yet to confirm a motive or detain anyone.
