One of the three men accused of pulling off the Saturday morning armed robbery attempt at the western union branch on Regent Street on May second is in jail tonight. 22 year old Brandon Taylor was today slapped with 14 charges for the broad daylight heist in which three persons – including 2 police officers - were shot. Taylor is accused of being one of three men who went with rags over their faces and shot security guard Glenford Williams and then headed for the main door where they engaged in a shootout with the other security guard.
A customer, Wayne Wallace who was inside the store was shot. They then fled and while running they ran into two policemen who they opened fire on. The charges Taylor is facing are three counts of attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm on Wallace, Williams, and Ddelton Mariano; 4 counts of aggravated assault upon Janet Burns, Karen Young, Guadalupe Noble, and Kent Reyes; one count of attempted robbery of Western Union, a count of dangerous harm upon security guard Glenford Williams, and 2 counts for wounding Wayne Wallace and Delton Mariano.
Bail was denied and Brandon Taylor was remanded to prison until his next court appearance on June 23rd. And even if bail was granted – Brandon Taylor still wouldn’t be a free man tonight because it turns out that he had an outstanding bench warrant for two other attempted murder charges.
And while Taylor is in jail, so is one of his accomplices – described to us as being only 16 years old who is already in custody but that’s on an unrelated charge. He has yet to be arraigned for the Western Union heist. The third suspect is still at large.
