It is amazing to what great lengths and heights burglars go to break into a building and that is exactly what was on display around three this morning when two popular downtown establishments were hit. The first to be hit was the Blue Bird Ice Cream Parlour where it is believed the burglars gained access into the rear of the compound by first scaling an eight foot concrete wall and then making their way to a rear window where they removed the burglar bars and a kitchen exhaust fan to get inside the building.

Once inside, the thieves emptied out the cash register but according to one of the managers all they got was some small change. The burglars then removed the plywood panelling that separates blue bird from Sing’s Souvenir Store next door and then went through the cash register ion that store. Again, it was slim pickings as they collected two hundred dollars.

We understand that while a security camera did capture some movements because the video quality is considered poor it is doubtful that it would help police find their perpetrators. We understand that small handprints resembling that of a child were also observed at the crime scene. We tried but were unable to get a comment from police.
