A construction worker, a security guard for Sports Council and a gas station pump attendant who were all caught in the act by police were today taken over to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court in connection with the hold-up and robbery of a triple a security guard that took place two days ago.
Twenty six year old Derrick Munnings, twenty six year old Anthony Sabido and twenty one year old Jason Wade have all been charged with robbery and gun related charges. The trio appeared before Magistrate Sharon Frazer and jointly charged with one count of robbery. Derrick Munnings has been additionally charged with keeping ammunition without a gun license; those are the live rounds from the black thirty eight revolver, the gun that was stolen from the victim, Isaac Samuels.
Anthony Sabido was additionally charged with kept ammunition without a gun license, two orange in colour twelve gauge cartridges, one count of kept unlicensed firearm and a black twelve gauge pump action shot gun, the weapon that was placed to the victim’s chest as the robbers stole his gun and aggravated assault upon police constable Martin Bahadur. PC Martin Bahadur and Cpl. Randy Sanchez were on mobile patrol by mile two and a half on the Northern Highway when their attention was drawn to the armed hold-up around twelve ten on Tuesday morning.
Jason Wade was only charged with robbery. Jason Wade, who appeared in court with his attorney Michael Peyrefitte was also asked to explain why his right eye had a black and blue bruise. Wade explained to Magistrate Frazer that he was kicked by Cpl. Randy Sanchez and others. Wade further explained that Sanchez who was first on the scene was the first to beat him and others beat him that day as well.
Anthony Sabido also had a complaint of his own. He told the Magistrate that at the time he was shot in the leg, he was unarmed. Following both of the accused’s complaints their accomplice Munnings was then asked if he too had any complaints he replied no, he never had to go down that road.
All three men were remanded to Hattieville Prison and are scheduled to reappear in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on July eight.
