He’s a cycling legend, but that played no role on Friday night when Ernest Meighan was robbed at knifepoint and abducted by two men. Meighan, who owns and rents taxis was driving his car on Central American Boulevard at 11:30 and slowed at the speed bump near the cemetery road rounabout, where two male persons asked for a taxi to take them to Antelope St Extension. When they reached the destination they put a knife to his side, and what felt like a gun on the back of his head, and then ordered him to stop and get out. They took his money and two cell phones then fearing that he would be able identify them they put him in the trunk.
The gunmen then placed Jaw Meighan inside the trunk of the car, locked it, and drove off. Jawmiane was locked inside and feared they’d want to kill him because the men were unmasked and he could possibly identify them. So fearing that his own death was imminent Jawmaine knew he had to get out, and while the car was still moving he managed to open the trunk. That left with only one option to jump out of the moving car which he did – sustaining scrapes to his arm and hands.
The car was later found abandoned in the general area where the hold up and kidnapping occurred, police have not detained anyone in connection with this incident.
