And while Belmopan Police have solved the murder of James Young, they are still scratching their heads about the capital city’s other murder. That is mainly because still have not determined the identity of the man found dead in the Mount Pleasant Heights Area on Tuesday morning. The body was of a Hispanic man suspected to be between 25 and 30 years of age. We do know he was chopped in his head and shot in his abdomen and legs. Lead Investigator Sgt. Ismael Westby says his cause of death is the only thing they are certain of.
Sgt. Ismael Westby, Lead Investigator
“At this moment we cannot say whether this person was from across the border or from where this person is. All we know is that yes we have a murdered

body and so far it has been unidentified to the police.”
Keith Swift,
“I know his wrists were missing, did you eventually find those in the area?”
Sgt. Ismael Westby,
“No we were not able to find that in the area but the doctor confirmed to us that they were not cut off, they were probably eaten by maybe any kind of animal or maybe the Jan-crows.
There were multiple shots which believe were firearms injuries to the body. I would say on the legs and on the abdomen.”
Keith Swift,
“So the machete found next to him was not the murder weapon?”
Sgt. Ismael Westby,
“Well we believe that a machete was used also. We cannot say if that one found at the scene, if that was the one but yes the person had received multiple chop wounds.”
Keith Swift,
“How frustrating is this for you as an investigator not knowing who this gentleman is?”
Sgt. Ismael Westby,
“It is frustrating because we want to get into this investigation. We want to go ahead and try to find out the motive of this incident, we want to find out if possible we can be led to anybody that committed this crime but because we don’t have any identification, we do not know any background of this individual. It is having us handicapped at this moment.”
Anyone with information on who the murder victim might be can contact Sgt. Westby at the Belmopan Police Station.
