Last night we reported on 58 year old crooked tree resident Mervin Bood who had been charged with two counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault and one count of damage to property. He had shot at a car which Lloyd Beet and Moushen Ramal were in. His daughter Gina Bood told us it was self-defense because beet drove into their yard in Crooked Tree Village. She said her dad fired the shot from his licensed.22 rifle because he felt threatened. Well there are always two sides to a story and today Lloyd Beet told us his.

He says that it all started when someone burglarized a house on his farm. He says he intercepted Bood’s grandson and another young man pushing some of the stolen items down the road on a bike. When he pulled up, they ran off, and wishing to prevent them from going any further with the stolen goods, beet chopped the bicycle tyres. Beet says that confrontation happened hundreds of feet from Bood’s property but still, Mervin Bood who told us he feared for his grandson’s safety fired a warning shot to fend them off.

And that’s the other point of dispute. Beet says that was no warning shot and it wasn’t from a.22 rifle. Instead he says Bood fired three shots from a shotgun and it damaged the window and the side of his Mercedes Benz.

Bood who wanted to avoid going to prison because of his hypertension, applied for bail today at the Supreme Court. He was granted bail of ten thousand dollars this afternoon – but because he was already at the prison and it was impossible to bring him down this evening – he likely will not get that bail until Monday.
