A 38 year old mother, her 17 year old daughter her 19 year old son and her 19 year old nephew have all been charged with keeping a firearm and ammunition without a license and tonight they are behind bars.
The family and relative were charged after police searched a home at #3 Gentle Lane early this morning.
Inside the residence, the police found a twenty five caliber pistol with four rounds of ammunition.
It was an emotional scene inside the courtroom when the mother Emilia Hoare, her son Jerry Hoare, her daughter, a high school student and the 19 year old nephew Sherman Rodney all broke down in tears.
Jerry Hoare wanted to plead guilty to the charges but Magistrate Tracy Sosa did not accept his guilty plea because he had admitted that the gun does not belong to him and that he was only pleading guilty because he did not want his mom and sister go to jail.
But they did: Magistrate Tracy Sosa remanded the accused adults To Belize Central Prison and the minor to Youth Hostel.
The family and nephew are scheduled to reappear in court on September fifth.
