27 year old Lawrence Longsworth has been charged for robbing four teenagers at gunpoint but today in court his legal aid attorney Phillip Palacio said that Longsworth is the victim. Palacio says his client was beaten by police and that he was stabbed by other prisoners while in police custody. He says Longsworth has two fractured ribs, a broken jaw, and a broken eye socket.

You may recall that on September 21st, Thompson was allegedly caught in the act of robbing the teens and found with an unlicensed firearm. He was charged with the robbery of Joseph Thompson and attempted robbery of Jaril Hyde, Vern White, and Jamie Pollard. And for the 9 milimeter pistol with 4 live rounds, he was charged for keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

He was detained and placed in custody which is when his attorney says he was beaten by police and then by fellow detainees – who stabbed him 13 times. It appears that his cell mates were told that Longsworth was responsible for the Deon Meighan murder.

Longsworth underwent surgery and though he was detained on September 21st, he was arraigned today because he spent the entire week in the hospital. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie advised Longsworth to make a report with the police internal affairs and remanded him to custody until October 26th.
