A post mortem conducted on the body of twenty nine year old Randy Coye revealed that the tombstone found next to the victim‘s body was not used to kill him. Rather he was shot multiple times to the head, neck, chest and back.
According to Chief Pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran the examination revealed that Randy Coye was shot. The investigation into how he died is ongoing because they have been unable to establish what caused the fatal injury. A police press release says that he died from multiple gunshot injuries.
Randy Coye went missing some time after eight on Friday night and on Monday morning the young man’s badly decomposed body was found between high bush and a tomb at the eastern edge of the Lord Ridge Cemetery. It is strongly believed that Randy Coye was killed to send a message to his older brother Richard Russell – who had been targeted in the ongoing gang rivalry. Police continue to question a number of individuals but so far no one has been arrested for the murder.
