Death at Vaca Dam

A Guatemalan national was killed on the Vaca dam site on Sunday.

At 5 am 49 year old Emiliano Borrallos was coming off his 12 hour shift at the dam. He climbed a wall to turn of a generator and it was while climbing back down those steps that Borrallos slipped and fell. He sustained massive head injuries and witnesses say he was bleeding profusely from the nose, mouth, and ears. He was taken to the La Loma Luz hospital where he died. A post mortem was conducted today.

BECOL has about 350 local workers on the dam site. That is in addition to another 150 skilled workers from the builders of the dam – Sinohydro.
