Darren Banks was back in court today but it wasn’t for new charges. This morning in Magistrate’s Court, the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew the two counts of keeping ammunition with a gun license and a count of drug possession charges against the notorious street figure.
The charges date back to April 3rd of 2008 which is police searched Banks’ home on Oleander Street and claimed to have found two plastic bags near the fence. According to police at the time, one bag had 36 grams of marijuana and in the other bag there were two rounds of.223 caliber ammunition and two rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition. According to instructions from the DPP, the charges were withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
Banks is still however facing the more serious charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and attempted theft. The attempted murder charge was for stabbing his girlfriend Nicolette Forman in the back of her neck with a kitchen knife in August. Banks was ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation at his arraignment on August 31st. At the time he had just cut off his trademark dread locks and had even shaved his eyebrows.
