Convicted Killer Stuart Sutherland Sentenced

He could have spent life behind bars, but today Justice Michelle Arana sentenced 33 year old Stuart Sutherland to 25 years in jail for manslaughter.

He was charged for the shooting death of Gary Gabourel on March 25th of 2007. It occurred at Gabourel’s home in Willow’s Bank and it was a dispute over a shovel.

Justice Arana heard mitigation pleas from a former police sergeant Steven Rowland and Sutherland’s attorney Michael Peyrefitte.
