38 year old Alvin Flowers, a building contractor and concert promoter from Burrell Boom spent his Christmas Eve in court. Police say he was involved in a thirty-three thousand dollar burglary that happened in October at the Black Orchid Lounge in Burrell Boom. 19 year old Lane Grinage, a former employee of Black Orchid, was charged for it back in November, but police took some time to arrest Flowers. He was charged today for burglary and handling stolen goods.
Flowers denied that he was involved in any way but police say the recovered most of the stolen items – which includes twenty five thousand dollars in jewellery – when they detained him. For his part, he says he was set up by police who recovered the stolen items at his father’s farm in Flower’s Bank – where the thieves had stashed them. Flowers pleaded not guilty and was released on bail of six thousand dollars.
