The family of the 14 year old grenade fatality Rudolph Flowers is watching these developments closely. As police have been quick to publicize, Flowers had a police record – the Commissioner claims he had been on remand – and in fact had been released from police custody on Sunday December 27th – a day before he was being killed. At the time He was being questioned in connection with a criminal investigation. And while he may have had run-ins with the law, he was legally a child and last night you saw his mother Lisa Flowers on 7News in an emotional interview. But there was more. Lisa Flowers also told us that just hours before the grenade blast, he was told to the leave the area but he didn’t. She believes that could have meant the difference between life and death for her only child who most knew as “Teethy.”
Lisa Flowers, Mother of Grenade Victim
“He has some friends that he hangs out with and he is 14 years old. Any mother knows that when a child is that age you cannot control every move they make and sometimes Rudolph strays, countless amount of times. I always tell him please don’t go there, don’t hang out. Three o’clock yesterday his father met him and told him move from around there and he said dad I am going so right now. Four hours later it is at the same spot. At the same spot.”
A post mortem revealed that a pellet wound to the heart killed Rudolph Flowers. He will be buried later this week.
