34 year old Police Constable Jaime Pena is out on bail tonight after he was charged today in court with bigamy. Pena is accused of marrying Olga Gusman on February 19th of 2008 while still married to his first wife – Rubia Camara. She told police that she and Constable Pena were married on February 17th 1998. Camara filed for and was granted a legal separation in March of 2007.
But separation is not divorce and Constable Pena then married Olga Gusman in February of 2008. He was charged with bigamy and making a false declaration for the purpose of marriage.
No plea was taken because the matters are indictable. He was released on bail of $5,000. He is due back in court on February 11th. In 2007, Constable Pena was charged and later acquitted of assaulting Rubia Camara.
