Tonight a family fears that their loved one was killed and that is why they have not seen him for over a month. Thirty eight year old Hattieville resident Glenn Smith was last seen alive by family between the seventeenth and eighteenth of December. The following morning he reportedly was playing a game of dice with a friend and that was the last time he was seen alive. That was on December nineteenth.

The Smith family says it is not like their brother to stay out of touch with them for so long much less not visit them over the Christmas. In fact they say what is disturbing is that eight days after he was last seen alive by his friend, family members recall hearing a loud vocalization of distress on the night of December twenty sixth. According to the family it sounded like someone screaming and it came from the direction of the Dollar Bank Road not far away from where the family resides in Hattieville Village. When the family checked the following morning, what they discovered at the location makes them believe that Glenn Smith was murdered.

The sisters also denied reports that their brother’s disappearance has anything to do with the grenade blast on Kraal Road.

Paula Smith, Sister of Missing Brother
“So when we gone to the back there we saw the slippers. The slippers

look like when you run out of your slippers, that is how we meet the slippers and not too far away from the slippers like the bush like mashed down and the head of the bush had a craboo tree and even that was broken down. So it looks suspicious but I know one young man came to me and that young man told me that my brother was with him the 19th of December early morning four o’clock. My brother was in Hattieville, they were playing dice together which they normally do. Everyday my brother goes out to Hattieville and nobody nuh know, nobody has seen him.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
“I know there is this report out there that your brother’s disappearance may have something to do with the grenade that was thrown in the Kraal Road area.”

Paula Smith,
“I heard that on the news and I was mad because when that news came on my brother had already went missing. He doesn’t know anything about no Kraal Road bombing or whatever they call it.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
“And he is not involved in this ongoing rivalry between these groups?”

Paula Smith,
“I believe it is the dice game. He must have won somebody’s money, they dogged him out through the road, and that is when they did what they had to do with him.”

Delsie Smith, Sister
“So on the night of the 26th someone screamed out about after 11 the night. My older sister heard the screaming and the morning they went out to look. We vigilantly go up and down that road, the Dollar Bank Road, we vigilantly go up and down the road and saw no slippers. On the 27th, they found my brother’s slippers lying on the side of the road.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
“This was the morning after they heard the screaming?”

Delsie Smith,
“Yes that was the morning after the screaming and that is why we suspect something happened.”

The family says they understand the police have posted pictures of their missing brother on several lamp posts in case anyone knows where he may be or what happened to him. If you have any information that can help the Smith family you can contact Paula Smith at cell phone number 626 – 8011.
