Three City Council employees who were detained for pilfering funds have been released from police custody without being charged. How could that be, right? After all, information to us was that when the case of about sixty thousand dollars in missing funds came to light on Monday, they confessed to being in the scam in front of the mayor and other and returned over 13 thousand dollars in cash then and there.

They were detained after that and held for 48 hours. But they were released at around 8:00 last night without being charged. But it’s not that police are soft – pedalling on the case – in fact it’s because they are proceeding with extreme caution. Information to us is that the investigators have asked the Audit Department to come in and make an appraisal since the stolen money constitutes public funds. As we understand it, charges – of any – will be brought after Audit delivers its findings.
