And community watch or at least community listening was surely working on the Lord’s Bank Road on Tuesday when area residents called police after hearing a neighbour’s home alarm go off. Court reports are that three days ago, Dorian Westby was alerted that the alarm at his Lord’s Bank home had been activated. Dorian and his wife Diane got home to find police at the scene and went inside where Diane was allegedly attacked by 26 year old Edwardo Reyes a construction worker of ladyville.
Apparently, police responded to the sound of the alarm but didn’t know that Reyes was still lurking inside. When the homeowners went in - Reyes appeared with a knife and threatened Westby. Apparently, police who were still in the area responded and Reyes claims they shot him in the left toe.
Bad foot and all, he was today charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault when he appeared in the number one Magistrates’ Court. He pleaded not guilty and chief magistrate Margaret McKenzie offered him bail of four thousand dollars.
