Last night we told you about a murder case that fell apart when key witnesses failed to show up and this evening an attempted murder prosecution is on shaky grounds with two witnesses missing. The trial of 22 year old Brandon Taylor charged with two counts of attempted murder was to start today in the Supreme Court before Justice Michelle Arana.
The jury was already empanelled but because two key witnesses Ernie Gill and Alexander Lopez did not appear to testify, it was adjourned until tomorrow. According to a report from he director of public prosecutions, Gill and Lopez cannot be located and if they do not appear in court tomorrow the case will either be dismissed or a nolle pros will be entered.
The charges are for a shooting that happened in April of 2008 on West Canal. Ernie Gill was waiting for Carl Bradley to finish washing his vehicle when he heard three or four gunshots. Gill was unhurt but his washman, Carl Bradley was shot in the left forearm. Gill’s vehicle was also damaged.
