A related party in this case is Sabrina Eiley. She is not quite “amucus curiae” but she is a friend to Elizabeth Higinio and was at the police station offering support when she was dragged into the back and forth after she says a police officer implied that she was informing. In the present climate, even a casual suggestion of that can be dangerous, and today Sabrina Eiley came to our studio to lash out at the police officer.

“The police have to come better than that because me and have beef due to my baby father in 2008. Even he tells people that I sell drugs. If I sell drugs, why don’t they have me lock up. Don’t they know they can make people come look for me and kill me because they think I am such a big drug dealer. I am nobody. I am not a drug dealer. I work hard for my money and to take care of my kids. First of all that is all I want to break for them. I don’t want nobody running up in my house at two o’clock, they ran up into my house at two o’clock with guns. That is stupidness, that is pure corruption.”
Jules Vasquez,
“But at the same time they wouldn’t be doing that for no reason?”
Sabrina Eiley,
“They did it for a reason because they said they heard Colombians just bring so much drugs for me and Jamaicans and I want to know who is me so to make Colombians and Jamaicans bring those. Not because my ex-baby father does deal with those things means I deal with that. We are two different persons and I left him when I found out about that you understand, I left him for almost like three years.
I just want them to clear up my name. If you do not like me officer, come and do something better than that. Come better than that, that is all I have to say. Don’t accuse me of something I didn’t do. That is all I have to say, thank you.”
If Eiley seems familiar, that is because she was very much in the news in March of 2007 as the mother of Baby Destiny. Her baby was born in prison when she was serving time on a firearm possession charge – after she claims she took the rap for her boyfriend.
