The body of an unidentified man was found yesterday afternoon around 3:30 -through a picado road in the village of Scotland Half-moon. He had been shot to the head. It's a very unusual happening for a village with a population of about 500 - and residents are saying it's not one of their own. According to the Chairperson of the Village Olivia Rhaburn the body was first sighted by her 12 year old son.

"Well we were just walking because I had to go somewhere else. Just a routine walk. We saw some crows but it didn't attract my attention of a dead animal that was on the roadside. But after I had pass, my son stop and look around and said 'mommy somebody dead' I just said 'man, who died' he say yes mommy I see a foot. It was then I said where? He said right there and I turn back and when I look it was a foot of a human being. It seems partially buried because only the foot I saw. I didn't want to stay around. Right away I call 911 and I got a response."

"I understand a post mortem was done on the scene. Did the doctor state the cause of death?"
Olivia Rhaburn, Chairlady - Scotland Halfmoon
"Well no he did not really tell me. He just said that it had been established to him."
"It was hard to identify the face because of the state of decomposition, but it was a male."
The body has not yet been identified but police suspect they may know who it is. They have called in the family of a Orion Paul Vernon - because they suspect it may be him. But family members were unable to conclusively identify the body when they viewed it today.
Vernon who lives alone was last seen on Sunday. His picture is in our archives because in March of this year he was charged for possession of three Atlantic Bank checks - two were blank and the third was written out to Belize Food Supply for $53,000. At the time he was charged for two counts of possession of a false document and uttering a false document. He pleaded not guilty. He had charges pending for the same offense in Belize City and San Pedro.
Again, police suspect the body could be his but his relatives could not confirm it today 0- and officially, the body remains unidentified.
