Five Indian Nationals who entered Belize illegally were each fined $1,000 when they appeared today in Magistrate's Court and pleaded guilty to charges of illegal entry.
They are 23 year old Gurwinder Singh, 32 year old Navinder Singh, 19 year old Gurwinder Singh, 27 year old Saroup Singh and 36 year old Satnam Singh.
Magistrate Ed Usher ordered them to pay the fines forthwith. If they default on payment they will serve 6 months. He also ordered that they be deported to India. The five were caught when Immigration officers intercepted a passenger bus today at Hattieville.
The bus was coming from Belmopan and besides the Indians there were two Guatemalans, brothers 23 year old Byron Baldezon and 21 year old Jorge Baldezon who were allegedly their cayotes.
Jorge and Byron Baldezon were each charged with 5 counts of purposely aiding in the commission of an offence against the Immigration Act. They please not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Ed usher remanded them into custody until September 6th.
