The career criminal and former parolee who robbed and assaulted a nurse last year was found guilty of robbery and sentenced today to five years in prison.
Thirty one year old Barry Robinson was accused of hitting Nurse Bernadine Grinage on the head on October 5th of last year as she exited her vehicle, and proceeded to snatch her purse which contained money, her cell phone and other personal documents.
According to court documents, the items and money stolen from the 46 year old registered nurse, amounted to One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Five dollars.
Robinson is alleged to have committed the robbery shortly after being released on parole while serving a sentence of Ten years for rape. In a statement from the dock, Robinson stated since released on parole, he had been working hard at staying out of trouble.
Magistrate Kathleen Lewis who imposed the sentence, stipulated that it should run consecutively with any other sentence he is serving.
It is widely held that the Robinson case was one that led to the revamping of the parole regulations…..
