Late last week, police intercepted two guns in separate searches in the city. The first was found on Thursday night when police searched an SUV on north Front Street and found a fully loaded 9 millimeter pistol under the driver's seat. All three persons in the car were arrested and charged with keeping firearm and ammunition without a gun license. They are 22 year old Phillip Smith, 19 year old Justin Roches and 22 year old Brandon Leslie. They pleaded not guilty but because it is a firearm offence they were remanded into custody until January 24th.
The second gun bust happened on Friday morning when at 7:45 am, police searched a home on Curl Thompson St where they found a home-made handgun near the septic tank. Again, all persons present were arrested. They are 32 year old Teacher Sherline Ciego, a 16-year old male, 22 year old Albert Lambey and 45 year old Ashton Stanford. They were all charged with KEPT a PROHIBITED FIREARM and KEPT FIREARM AND AMMUNITION WITHOUT A GUN LICENSE. The minor made a guilty plea and with that the charge was withdrawn against the other three. The minor will be sentenced tomorrow…
