Robert Brown held a steady job, never spent a day in jail, and was a devoted father - but in November of 2008 that didn't stop him from being stabbed to death in front of his house on Raccoon Street in Belzie City.
Today the man accused of stabbing him, 32 year old Wyatt Anderson was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter by a jury of 7 women and 5 men in the supreme Court. The jury deliberated for a little more than four hours before it arrived at a unanimous verdict.
Chief witness for the prosecution Detective Constable Denbeigh Mcculloch testified that he was driving past when he saw Anderson and Brown engaged in a struggle. He sad Andersons had the handle of the knife held while Brown held unto the blade. Brown was stabbed in the left side of his chest and died from internal bleeding.
Anderson gave a statement from the dock in which he admitted that he and Brown were struggling. He said it was Brown who held the handle of the knife, and that he was stabbed by accident.
The fight stemmed from a dispute between Brown and Anderson's sister. He will be sentenced by Justice Adolph Lucas on Thursday, February 10th….
