Last night, 21 year old Christie Carrasco was at her grandmother's wake…and tonight the wake is for her, after the lively 21 year old mother was killed, stabbed to death by her boyfriend who was in the throes of a jealous rage. It is another killing borne out of domestic violence, but as Monica Bodden found out the rage of this act defies easy classification.

21 year old Christie Carrasco was stabbed in the chest in front of her house by her common law husband 25 year old Osmar Sabido.
It happened around 8:30 last night in the San Lorenzo Housing site in Orange Walk Town.
According to many neighbors all they heard was a single scream - that alerted them to what was going on.

"Last night everything happened in such a flash. We heard Christie scream and what I saw was when her boyfriend stabbed her and she fell to the ground and she was screaming and her last words were 'help,' but she screamed like it was very vicious, it was a very vicious scream and she was bleeding but at the time I didn't know she was bleeding because she was wearing a black shirt and her blouse was filled with blood and she ran but she collapsed a first time and the second time she tried it again and I was running towards her from my yard and she collapsed again. The police was on the scene already and when she was collapsing, the police grabbed her and that's when I ran to her and I help pick her up and she was still breathing and I told the police that everyone was so stunned and in shock about what happened. We put her in the back of the vehicle and the guy (her boyfriend) just stood there like he did nothing wrong and he had a face like a big smile like he did the world's greatest thing, like he accomplished what he wanted, like it was something great. The knife was in his hand, he dropped it on the floor and when he saw the police and everyone coming to Christie's aid. My stepdad yelled at him and say, 'What did you do to her' that's when he froze, he wasn't stunned, he wasn't shocked. He had no heart whatsoever to what he did."
According to Cambranes - Sabido showed no remorse after stabbing his 21 year old common-law wife.

"When he noticed that the knife was on the ground he threw it in Christie's car and he just stood right there and watch everything unfold. I was the one who was holding her and trying to keep her alive the best way I could - talking to her and telling her to not go to sleep, please stay up and all kinds of things running through my mind at the same time. Then the police put him in the very same seat with us and we were going and all I could remember looking at her, holding her in my hands and looking at her - everything was full of blood for me holding her in my hands and just telling her to please stay alive, don't close your eyes. Just a bit ahead on the road after passing a speed bump she just took one last deep breath and that was it. She died in my hands."

"I was standing at my screen door when the police came. When the police passed by they went, but they didn't stop for long, they just passed slowly, went down the street and turned and then I saw when Christie came. I saw when Christie came and I got back in my house, I didn't know she had a problem or the police was looking for her. I got back in my house and about 5 minutes after I went inside I heard when she scream out, so I ran out and I see her on the ground, her boyfriend have her by her hair, he already stabbed her. She got up and run and she fell over there and then she ran towards the police begging for help, but at that time she was already stab."
Everyone believed last night's episode was planned - and was a result of an obsessive relationship.

"He actually had a plan. He was definitely going to kill her one way or the other because last night he had the entire house under gasoline and kerosene, he had the stove on. Ultimately his plans were to kill her by all means and the police was not too far from the lane when he stabbed her and she was trying to get away from him."

"That's the first stab and the second was to her heart that's when things really got bad, she was really in pain and she felt it and that's when I know that it was serious and she was screaming help and I guess his plan was to stab her and burn the house down with them in it because he acted like a complete psychopath. I mean only a psycho would do things like that. He was obviously obsessed with her - one way or the other to think that, even for that to cross his mind because he had it planned. What would you do with a knife in your pocket if you are not going to use it right there and then so it's something that he wanted to do and he wanted to set the house on fire because everything was in place last night. The only thing was just a flinch of fire touch that house and it could still burn down right now to this minute."
Today her uncle told us what he understand happened last night.

"We received the news about 10 minutes to 9 last night. Apparently I was at my grandmother's wake and we were preparing for the night and Christie had apparently gone home a little earlier to bathe and change her clothes and come to the wake with the rest of the family."

"Well from what I understand Christie went home after she had dropped off my other sister which is her aunt and throughout the course of the evening leading up to the night, her husband was constantly calling her, demanding that she come along with him. Apparently he was a very possessive person, obsessed with her and always wanted her around him and wasn't too happy when she was around her family for some strange reason I really can't explain that but she received several phone calls throughout that period and he was harassing her over the phone so apparently she went to meet him and get ready for the wake."
"Apparently an argument started and he allegedly started to quarrel with her because apparently she took too long to come and be in his company and they started arguing and apparently it appears that he had this intention in the back of his mind because he was already armed with the knife so it appears that the intention was already there."

"To stab and injured her, murder her or whatever his motives was but he was armed and ready to do some kind of damage. He called his mom in San Pablo I assumed and told her what was his intention and told some other people his intentions also that this was what he was going to do. I have also received report that there was a smell of kerosene inside the house and apparently he was going to drag her into the house after he had killed her and was planning to set the house on fire."
According to Christie's uncle, the family saw no signs of her being abused.

"From what i understand when I spoke to my little sister - there were no reported incidents of domestic abuse with her. The only flaw that we saw was that he didn't like to mingle along with our family and he always wanted her in his company most of the time. And to avoid any confusion or quarrel and dispute she like conceded to that."
But neighbors of the 21 year old woman say differently.

"To say that they are always fighting, I have never seen them fighting, I only hear that they would have a little quarreling, but that would be like normal but to say that they physical fight - I never see or heard it. But to say that he cursed her, I would always hear that. We would just come out to peep but nothing else after that. They were quiet and you couldn't really know what would happen after."

"No, which was really sad because my children and I saw when he stabbed her second time out here. We came out because she screamed and she fell down there and by the time they pick her up she was already dying because by the time they took her to the hospital she died."

"What I witness last night was the worst thing that I could have ever witness in my life and I don't think it's going to go anytime soon because watching someone die in your hands it's not easy to watch, it's not easy to live, but you are there, captured in the moment and all you want to do is to make sure this person is ok and then hopefully she lives. I was just thinking that knowing that she is dead in my hands, maybe she is unconscious, maybe they are going to bring her back, knowing that a part of me know that she is dead but a part of me is saying maybe she is still going to live."
She was stabbed once to the chest and once to the abdomen. She is the mother of a two year old and was a sales representative for SMART.
