Man Accused Of Raping European Tourist

Twenty one year old Jamie Young, a resident of San Pedro Town, was charged with rape when he appeared today in the Magistrate's Court. No plea was taken because the offense is indictable. Neither could the court offer him bail. He was remanded into custody until April 27. The incident occurred around 2 a.m on Thursday, March 17, at San Pedro High School grounds. The complainant, a 38 year old European woman, reported to the police that she met young at Wet Willy's Bar and they began to socialize. She said they left Wet Willy's and went to the grounds of the high school where Young wanted to have sex with her and she refused. She said Young began to choke her from behind and she lost consciousness. She said when she regained consciousness she was naked from waist down. A doctor who examined her certified that she was carnally known. The doctor classified her injury as grievous harm.
